The lesser known wildlife of Mikumi National Park, Tanzania

Mikumi National Park is known for its variety of wildlife. The northern part of the park located in the Mkata flood plain is a favourite haunt of four of the big five of Africa- elephants, wild buffaloes, lion and the leopard. But hidden amidst these fairly common animals are an amazing array of creatures particularly the winged ones and the slithering ones.

During my visit to the park in March 2016, I documented some of the birds, insects and reptiles that I came across both on the main highway as well as the safari roads.
